"Dear customers we apologise for the inconvenience" Metrorail's golden words. For several weeks frustrated capetonians have been hearing the phrase over and over and over again. Trains cancelled, vandalized, overloaded to maximum capacity and congested traffic on the roads because of it, has become the norm, or so it seems. Economically is seems smarter to use the train as method of transport, because it's cheaper, but with these horrible conditions I'd rather walked to where I need to be and still get there faster. Last week I stumbled across an article, almost as if it was heave - sent. The article announced that the City of Cape Town is to formally take over train services in the Metro. (Thank Heavens, I thought) The City plans to create an integrated public transport system comprising rail, the city's bus (My Citi), minibus taxis and non - motorized transport. Think Capetonians have lots to be smiling about now.

I love this post, well researched topic. As a commuter myself I find this interesting.
