Well, it's not rockets science, but has mostly got to do with one's attention span and communication skills. smiling, nodding and hearing gets you nowhere other than doing the complete opposite of what was instructed. effective listening, and paying attention to detail makes following instructions relatively easy I'd say.
And often times people tend to hear only what they want to hear, as to what instructions to follow. This causes great confusion a leaves the whole situation misinterpreted for both the sender and receiver.
Very relevant information, well structured; short and sweet and straight to the point. I did not get bored reading this or lost in to much information. Good blog post and great advice.
